Founded in 1983, ALE has grown steadily through the building of long-term relationships with key customers and the acquisition of successful specialist companies which have augmented our capabilities.
When ALE was first established, we provided an engineering service to utility companies and manufacturers of electrical plant. In 1992 we set up as a full-scale operation in Abu Dhabi, servicing the oil, gas and power industries in the UAE.
This was followed by the opening of offices and operating centres in North America (Houston), South America (Venezuela) and the Far East (Taiwan and Thailand).
In 2002 we acquired the Brambles Heavy Contracting Group, a company which includes Econofreight, with branches in the UK, USA and Malaysia, and Lastra, with branches in the Netherlands and Spain. Further to this we acquired Alstom's Distribution Services division in 2004 and John Gibsons Projects in 2007. These key acquisitions helped boost our resources of transport and installation equipment, and swelled our ranks of highly skilled and experienced personnel.
ALE is now one of the largest specialist transport lifting companies in the world. We’ve grown considerably in scale and the in the expertise we offer, but we’re still a business inspired by the same passion for engineering solutions that prompted the formation of ALE nearly 30 years ago.
