Unloading and Transporting a Reactor, Portugal

ALE have unloaded and transported, what is believed to be the largest cargo to date, in Portugal. The reactor weighed 1,457te and was 42m long, 7.2m high and had a maximum width of 7.9m.

The reactor was unloaded from a marine transport vessel at Sines harbour dock onto 68 lines of SPMT and transported 9km to the Galp Refinery. Due to the height restrictions along the route, the reactor had to be transported off the public highway and over roads through a mine area with 10% inclines.
