ALE was assigned to receive, transport, stage and warehouse stator generators in the port of Richards Bay, South Africa.
ALE used 26 axle-lines of SPMT to transport the two stators, weighing 357te each.
Obtaining route and bridge clearance proved to be a challenge; however, due to the years of experience in local industry, ALE managed the 10km move from the port over a single weekend. The stators were then off-loaded onto staging sets also provided by ALE.
The stators will be re-loaded onto the AL500 girder frame trailer for transportation to the Medupi and Kusile power stations.
