ALE performed the exchange by means of a 500te capacity skidding gantry with rotational ability.
The removal and re-installation of the generators were executed following the same sequence of manoeuvres, but in reverse. ALE used a longitudinal skidding process to align the piece over the foundations and finally lowering it 15m through a hatch.
Once the piece was lowered, it was loaded onto 4x10 axle lines of SPMT and transported to the storage building where it was unloaded onto its supporting frame.
The exchange was carried out simultaneously. Once aligned below the hatch, the generator was lifted up to level +115, skidded and rotated 90º, skidded again, and finally, lowered onto the foundations inside the turbine building.
By carrying out the operation simultaneously, the plant was shut down for a minimum of time.
